Des Plains, IL, Author: National Association of the Remodeling Industry

Des Plaines, Ill., September 10, 2004 --- Planning a kitchen or bath remodel? The National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI), “The Voice of the Remodeling Industry”TM , can help remodeling consumers find a Certified Kitchen and Bath Remodeler (CKBR) whose specialization is kitchen and bath projects.

October is National Kitchen & Bath Month, and NARI recognizes that kitchens and baths continue to be among the most popular rooms in the home to remodel. According to the US Census Bureau, 4.7 million baths were remodeled in 2003 and 3.8 million kitchens were remodeled, up from 4.4 million bathrooms and 3.4 million kitchens in 2001.

NARI implemented the CKBR program in 2003 to raise the bar for remodeling professionals in this growing segment of the remodeling industry, and to promise the remodeling consumer access to professionals with cutting edge knowledge in kitchen and bath remodeling.

Through an increasing implementation of CKBR study groups in NARI chapters nationwide, the number of CKBRs has more than tripled. "A consumer wants to use a certified professional because it shows dedication to the profession, and it sets them apart from the competition," said Darius Baker, CR, CKBR, NARI Education Committee Chair and CKBR Study Group Leader. "A CKBR will simply know more about remodeling kitchens and baths than the competitor without the certification."

A CKBR designation says that the contractor has an in-depth, thorough knowledge of all aspects of the kitchen and bath remodeling processes. It gives a contractor a competitive edge in this popular area of remodeling. It allows the contractor to bring to their clients specific expertise in business operation, materials selection, and layout standards. It enriches the professional’s understanding and maximizes performance during demolition and major installation processes, lighting, and electrical and plumbing systems.
